When Max Steinberg missed the online poker boom, he and his twin brother made a promise.
They won’t miss their next opportunity to be trendy and make money.
“We saw everyday fantasy, and it was about two years ago, and it really seemed like it could explode,” Steinberg said. “So, I stopped focusing on poker and started to focus on learning how to beat everyday fantasy. And I was able to quickly learn how to beat it and immediately started making good money.”
Steinberg, a 27-year-old Las Vegas resident, earned a berth to the World Poker Main Event by acquiring a $27 satellite from the daily fantasy sports website DraftKings in April.
Steinberg was one of six players left when play was suspended Sunday night at the 46th Texas Holdham World Championship at the Penn and Teller Theater in Rio. 카지노사이트 순위
Steinberg took fourth place with 16 million chips when play was suspended at 10:30 p.m. Joe McKeon of North Wales, Pennsylvania, was responsible for all three eliminations and took a commanding lead with 91.45 million, more than half of the chips in play.
The main event, which drew 6,420 visitors, will continue at 4:30 p.m. (5 p.m., ESPN2) today, and will be paused with three players remaining. The tournament will resume at 6 p.m. (6:30 p.m., ESPN) on Tuesday, with the winner determined for the $7.68 million first prize.
“I can say that two years of online poker experience is not as skilled as two years of everyday fantasy experience,” Steinberg said. “But I’ve been playing poker for a really long time. I hope I have more skills in poker than I have in two years.”
Steinberg was born in Washington, D.C., and his family moved to the Transcendental Meditation Community in Fairfield, Iowa, when he and his brother Danny were eight years old.
The Steinbergs started playing online poker when they were only 17 years old, sharing an account under their father’s name. In 2008, 19-year-old Max joined his first live tournament and won second place on the Latin American poker tour in Costa Rica with $144,773.
