Hurley, who put the University of Connecticut at the top of Division 1 in college basketball for the second consecutive year in May, may lead the team through the 2029-2030 season and earn extra income through performance-based incentives.

The university explained that Hurley will receive $6.375 million next season alone, including bonuses from lectures and consulting, in addition to his annual base salary of $400,000.

Hurley went 141-58 in six seasons at the University of Connecticut.

The Lakers reportedly offered $70 million over six years to buy Hurley last month.

Coach Hurley admitted that “the proposal was tempting,” but said, “I decided to stay at university for those who support me.”
