What Golden State will decide about Moody.
Local U.S. media outlet Sportrac reported on the Golden State Warriors and Moses Mudiay’s contract extension situation on Nov. 13 (KST).
According to the report, “Golden State has players they prioritize over Moody. Mudiay could be given more minutes and opportunities elsewhere,” meaning that the Warriors and 안전놀이터 Mudiay’s extension talks are stalled.
In August, ESPN reported that Mudi and Golden State were close to signing an extension worth between $11 million and $13 million per year. The deadline for Golden State and Mudi to negotiate an extension is this October. While there is still time, extensions are usually signed sooner rather than later. The fact that it hasn’t happened yet means there’s a good chance it won’t.
Moody is the 14th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He’s a 3-and-D type of player who has been touted as an immediate impact player in the NBA since college. However, Moody was selected by Golden State. The Warriors are a team that tries to win every season, and they don’t take chances with prospects. Head coach Steve Kerr also favors veterans over prospects.
Moody averaged just 11.7 minutes in 52 games in his rookie season, 13 minutes in his sophomore season, and 17.5 minutes in his third season, 2023-2024.
Unlike his first and second seasons, where he was a non-factor, in his third season, he averaged 8.1 points and 3 rebounds per game.
In recent years, the value of 3&D players in the NBA has been on the rise. It’s hard to find a team in the NBA that doesn’t have a 3&D player. This means that Moody will have more opportunities on other teams than he does now.
That’s why next season is more important than ever. Golden State lost their starting shooting guard and franchise star Klay Thompson. Thompson”s shoes have been filled by role players like Buddy Hield and D’Anthony Melton.
Moody had an opportunity. He’ll be hard-pressed to unseat Thompson, but Hield and Melton are more than capable of competing. How Moody performs will determine his salary and where he goes from here.
Will Moody be able to take Thompson’s spot next season?
