KB Sonbo, gradually turn on the stretchers

Last-place KB Insurance is showing signs of rebounding in the men’s professional volleyball league.

KB Insurance won the Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Men’s match against Korean Air on Tuesday at Gyeyang Gymnasium in Incheon with a 3-1 (23-25 31-29 25-22 25-22) set score.

KB Insurance, which recently suffered a 12-game losing streak, the longest since its inception, narrowly escaped a losing streak against 현금홀덤사이트 OK Financial Group on the 6th. They followed that up with back-to-back wins over defending champion Korean Air.

The bottom-placed KB Insurance is now 3-12-1 with 13 points and has closed the gap on sixth-placed Hyundai Capital (3-11-1 with 13 points).

Bjerna led the team’s winning streak with a career-high 43 points on 68.33 percent shooting from the field.

The game came down to how much KB Insurance could capitalize on Korean Air‘s Lim Dong-hyuk. Lim stepped in to fill the void left by foreign player Lincoln, who sat out the previous game due to back pain. KB Insurance fielded Bijena as his opponent.

In the first set, Lim completely erased Lincoln’s absence. He led the way with 11 points with a 68.75% attack success rate. Bijena also scored 10 points, but fell just short.

However, KB Insurance set the tone in the second set by overcoming a fierce seesaw game in a deuce situation. From 25-25 to 29-29, Korean Air’s Jeong Jung-yong missed a quick opener and KB’s Hong Sang-hyuk converted a quick opener to level the match. Lim finished with 12 points and Bijena with 10 points.

Buoyed by the momentum, KB Insurance trailed midway through the third set before capitalizing on Korean Air’s unforced errors. At 20-20, Lim Dong-hyuk missed a quick opener, and at 21-21, Espejo’s spike serve was caught in the net, giving KB Insurance a 22-21 lead. Han and Lim Dong-hyuk then made errors and Bjorna hit a back-attack to take the lead.

In the fourth set, Bijena continued her pace and scored 13 points. At 24-22, Korean Air’s Jung Ji-seok’s quick open was blocked by KB Insurance’s Korean Min to end the game.

Korean Air committed 33 unforced errors to suffer its first three-game losing streak of the season. That was more than KB Insurance (19). Lim Dong-hyuk couldn’t smile after scoring a whopping 42 points.
