World Poker Tour Women’s Night (R) returns to bike casinos packed with interesting ribbons and bows, such as the breast cancer awareness pink ribbon, an online auction that benefits the Susan G. Comen Breast Cancer Foundation and Jennifer Tilly. One of the most popular events of the world’s poker tour, the event has become a tournament of female poker fame. This year, the competition will be taken to a new level as actress Jennifer Tilly and some of the rising women in poker compete at the bike casino to support breast cancer research.
The activities begin today, Friday, Aug. 11, as the World Poker Tour kicks off its first annual online auction on its website, WorldPokerTour.com . Several VIP packages are on offer, including a four-day spa voucher, a 12-box seat for this year’s WPT Celebrity Invitational in Los Angeles, and tickets to the Los Angeles Clippers basketball home game. 경마
The net proceeds from the auction, which runs through Sept. 5, will be donated to the Susan G. Comen Breast Cancer Foundation. WPT maintains Charity Buzz, an online company that uses brand marketing and fundraising strategies to help organizations support various causes. To date, the Comen Foundation has invested $630 million in breast cancer research, education, check-up, and treatment programs. To complement the online auction, the Bicycle Casino will host a gala and cocktail session on Aug. 19. Women will walk the pink carpet and bid on items to show their support for breast cancer.
As the festival draws to a close, the pink carpet will heat up with more than 500 women who will fight on the felt for a spot in the WPT Ladies Night IV. The Bicycle Casino will host the Ladies Poker Party Open Tournament, inviting all women over 21 years of age to participate in a $125 purchase (which includes a $25 admission fee for a $100 purchase). Ten percent of each $100 purchase will be donated to the Commen Foundation. The winner of the event will get a high-profile seat at the televised WPT Ladies Night IV tournament on Thursday, Aug. 31.
“We are delighted that the Comen Foundation has joined forces with WPT Women’s Night and the fight against breast cancer,” said Robin Moder, co-founder and vice president of WPT Enterprises, Inc. (NASDAQ: WPTE). “We believe this is a great opportunity at WPT to shed light on the importance of breast cancer awareness and at the same time celebrate female poker players. Our goal is to help this annual program find treatments by raising the money and stature raised annually.”
