Although TSO is best known for its trilogy of Christmas Eve and other stories, Christmas attic, and lost Christmas Eve, Capraesque’s holiday records, they also released several other rock operas. Beethoven’s Last Night (2000) was the first of these off-season rock operas and tells a compelling story of Beethoven’s struggle for his soul between good and evil. It features an instrumental intersection between classical composers and modern rock, with original vocal tracks featuring Pati Russo (Meatlaf) as the character Teresa, Beethoven’s love.
Later albums have great themes such as war and salvation, namely Night Castle (2009). Night Castle was TSO’s first top 5 album debut and included a bonus track featuring Greg Lake (Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson), one of TSO’s biggest influences. Letters From The Raminth (2015) was another top 10 album by TSO. TSO has sold over 12 million albums and DVDs in total.
TSO, which continues to be one of the top 25 tour activities in Korea, shows no signs of slowing down. Since its tour debut in 1999, TSO has performed more than 2,000 winter tour performances for more than 18 million fans. So far, TSO has donated more than $18 million from these tours to local charities.
Paul O’Neill worked on several TSO projects at several stages of completion at his recording studio in Florida at the time of his death. He also adapted two final rock operas, Romanov: A Story of the 1917 Russian Revolution, and Night Castle, into live concerts. O’Neill also planned to eventually bring the TSO experience to Broadway. Nearly 25 years after the release of the first album, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra continues to create and work.
