The update report is titled “Pennsylvania Interactive Game Assessment: Online Gambling Report 2023.” The report summarized three years of data from over 1,800 adults from across the state. Since becoming legal in 2017, it has sought to better understand the impact of online gambling on the state’s population.
The investigation was developed by the Pennsylvania State Criminal Justice Research Center with the Pennsylvania Drug and Alcohol Program (DDAP).

The report noted that online gambling revenue rose to more than $2.1 billion ($1.7 billion/€2 billion) during the 2022-23 financial year, up nearly 27% year-over-year.
Glenn Stenner, an assistant criminal justice professor at Penn State Abbington and lead author of the report, said: “As we see the rise in revenue and advertising for online gambling, this report is a way to understand the potential impact of the Pennsylvania Federation on individuals, families, and communities.”
