The proposal calls for up to $879 million in development costs, including a drawing room and hotel complex with 350 million slots, a $200 million luxury shopping mall, the preservation of several Bethlehem steel buildings, and up to 1,200 apartments.
But Rooney said he was told by the developers of the Aztar site that Aztar was planning to build the stadium. The complex will occupy the rest of the site, which is scheduled to be a $34.3 million, 7,000-seat minor league ballpark under development by team owners Craig Stein and Joseph Finley. 파워볼게임
“My understanding is that Tropicana has options for 30 acres in the Ayer area,” Rooney said. “Why they refuse to come up with their plan is beyond me. Eventually, we’ll see all these applications because the process will be made public.”
Lehigh County Chief Executive candidate Don Cunningham says he has been approached by Aztar representatives who want his support for the planned slot shop in Allentown.
County Executive Jane Irvin and Azure officials did not comment on the matter.
Aztar officials said in February they were interested in finding slot outlets in the Lehigh Valley, but said they would not finalize specific plans for Allentown on Friday.
“We’re excited about the possibilities in Pennsylvania,” said Joe Cole, Aztar’s vice president of corporate communications. “We’re considering opportunities in the region, but there’s nothing specific to report.”
Aztar operates riverboat casinos in Missouri and Indiana, and the flagship Atlantic City Resort outside Las Vegas, including a 1,500-room hotel and casino, a 2,100-room hotel and casino, and a $285 million newly opened entertainment center, The Quarter.
Aztar showed interest in Bethlehem on the 412 and 78 freeways, but failed to make a formal bid.
Pektor, a developer of Bethlehem, said he failed to bid to buy Bethlehem land on Route 412 into a Slots store complex, had a new gambling partner, and expected to file for a license by the end of the year. He plans to locate Route 33 corridor, but did not disclose the exact location or the casino operator.
Like Richley, Pektor urged Valley residents to wait for all applications to be submitted before wishing them victory.
“When this is all over, there will be other options. You can believe it,” said Pector. “I want people to wait for all the applications before making a decision.”
