LOTTE COMPLETES ‘TEAM NO-HITTER’ AGAINST SSG FOR THIRD TIME IN HISTORY

SEOUL) Byeong-hyuk Chun = The Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) have recorded a team no-hitter for the third time in the league’s history. Lotte did not allow a single hit in a 1-0 home win over the SSG Landers of the 2023 KBO League at Sajik Stadium in Busan on Saturday. The LOTTE pitching staff of Aaron Wilkerson, Seung-min Koo, and Won-joong Kim allowed only two walks against SSG and did not allow a single hit or run to complete the team no-hitter .There have been 14 times in KBO history that a pitcher has pitched a no-hitter through the ninth inning, but this is only the third time a team has recorded a combined no-hitter .Prior to Lotte, it was 스포츠토토링크 accomplished by the LG Twins against the NC Dinos on Oct. 6, 2014, and by SSG against NC in the opening game on April 2, 2022.SSG didn’t get a single hit, with only leadoff hitter Choo Shin-soo drawing two walks .In the top of the seventh inning, with the score 0-0, Choo drew a walk, but was unable to follow it up with a hit. SSG trailed 0-1 in the top of the ninth inning, and after two outs, Choo Shin-soo again drew a walk, but the next batter, Choi Ji-hoon, grounded out to first base to end the no-hitter .Lotte, which had five hits on the day, scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth when pinch-hitter Lee Jung-hoon led off with a single to right and was followed by a bunt single by pinch-hitter Yoon Dong-hee. LOTTE starter Wilkerson struck out six and walked none in the seventh inning. In the eighth inning, Koo Seung-min pitched a one-hit shutout, and in the ninth, Kim Won-joong closed out the game with a one-hit shutout and no walks.
