Nevada Adopts Internet Poker Licensing Rules

“We estimate the U.S. online poker market at $5 billion in sales compared to the $24 billion global internet gaming market and the $33 billion commercial casino market in the U.S.,” Union Gaming Group analyst Bill Lerner wrote in a research report. “In our opinion, the commercialization of online poker was in 2013.”

Nevada’s online poker may have commercial limitations, but it will offer models to other states, Lerner said. The guidance was mandated earlier this year by the state legislature’s approval of Congressional Bill 258, which required Internet poker rules to be enacted by Jan. 31.

Licensed game companies seeking online poker licenses will have to prove that their technology can only limit play to state residents of legal age. Online poker sites should also establish procedures for detecting money laundering, fraud, or other criminal acts and set up cash reserves to supplement the money customers have deposited into their accounts.

Caesars Entertainment and Boyd Gaming have already submitted proposals with casino equipment makers such as International Gaming Technologies, Bali Technologies, and Canter Gaming to seek permission when regulations are ready.

According to the regulations, new companies in Nevada will be subject to a full license investigation, which typically takes months. Casino industry representatives applauded the vote despite online poker being illegal in the United States. 토토사이트 추천
