Short track director Ahn Jung-hyun said, “Now that I’m a Chinese player, Lin Xiaojun.”

On the 12th, the 4th 2023-2024 Media Day of the KB Financial Cup International Skating Union (ISU) Short Track World Cup was held at the press center of Mokdong Ice Rink Stadium.

This season’s World Cup, which has a total of six rounds, will be held in the first, second, Montreal, Canada, third, Beige China, and fourth Seoul, Korea. After that, it will end with the fifth Dresden in Germany and the sixth Gdansk in Poland.

It is the second short track World Cup to be held in Korea since the 2016-2017 season. It is the second international competition in 2023 with the World Championships held in March this year.

“As it is the second international competition, I want to achieve better results,” Ahn Jung-hyun, who attended the media day, said. “I ask for your support.” 토토사이트 추천

“It’s great to have individual performances in this season’s World Cup, but I’m creaking in the relay. Personally, I want to make a performance in the relay event,” he said, adding, “I hope we can continue our momentum and play well in the rest of the World Cups as it is held at home.”

In the ensuing Q&A session, questions about Lin Xiaojun followed along with the current condition of the national team players.

Coach Ahn Jung-hyun said, “Hwang Dae-heon is in good shape. He has gotten a lot brighter on his way back to Korea.” Regarding Shim Suk-hee, who has yet to perform well in the competition, he said, “My condition is getting better. I think I will get better in terms of speed going forward.”

As for Lin Xiaojun, Lin said, “Lim Hyojun. No, he is now a Chinese athlete. I have been confirmed by the International Skating Union (ISU) that he cannot participate due to ankle injury,” and added, “Our team will aim for overall performance rather than individual performance.”

Lin Xiaojun, a former short-track speed skater in Korea, became a naturalized Chinese citizen in 2020. As he was evaluated as the “second Ahn Hyunsoo,” he was expected to grow into a Korean short-track skater.

Lin Xiaojun, who led the men’s short track speed skating team at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, split with Hwang Dae-heon in the wake of an unsavory incident at Jincheon Training Center in 2019, and was controversial enough to be handed over to trial.

Lin was acquitted at the time, but was suspended by the Korean Skating Union for one year. Later, Lin chose to naturalize in China.

Lin Xiaojun was blocked from participating in international competitions for three years after naturalization due to regulations on players who changed their nationality, but starting this season, he will be able to play in his first international competition for the Chinese national team.

Lin had his first showdown with Hwang. At this season’s first World Cup, Lin Xiaojun competed in the men’s 1,500-meter final, but was defeated by Hwang.

In addition, Lin Xiaojun of the third tournament was expected to come to Korea after the Chinese tournament and play against Hwang Dae-heon once again, but he did not even enter the country due to an ankle injury.
