The Korean record holder, Akshdeep Singh, won the men’s 20km walk event with a time of 1:20.57. After Gurmeet Singh at the 2016 Olympics, the Punjab native won India’s second gold medal. China’s Wen Yongji won the bronze medal with a time of 1:22.44, while South Korea’s Choi Byung-kwang came in second with a time of 1:21.20.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Koswami, a silver medalist at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, finished third in the women’s event with a time of 1:32:27, China’s Rangao won the gold with a time of 1:29:25, and Japan’s Yanai Ayane finished second, ahead of India with a time of 1:0:58, increasing the total number of Indian championships to nine (two gold, two silver and five).

In the men’s division, Suraj Panwar and India’s Hadif Singh finished in 1 hour 22 minutes 31 seconds and 1 hour 25 minutes 38 seconds, respectively, while in the women’s division, Bhawana Jat of the Tokyo Olympics finished in 1 hour 36 minutes 20 seconds, and Munita Plaza Fati of the same nationality finished in 1 hour 33 minutes 22 seconds. The 15th annual race walking competition for athletes representing Asian countries was held three years after the COVID-19 pandemic.
