According to the city of Chuncheon, 8,374 people signed an online petition to bring an international skating rink to Chuncheon as of the previous day. It has been 12 days since the online petition was launched .Offline signatures also exceeded 4,000 as of the end of last year, totaling more than 12,000. The online and offline signature drive will continue until the end of March, when the on-site inspection and secondary screening will take place.

In particular, more than 30 skating clubs have been formed to support the bid. Not only Chuncheon City Government departments but also other organizations have created skating clubs to support the bid .The athletic community, homegrown organizations, and economic, cultural, and religious sectors are also participating in the relay. The number of relay participations has exceeded 70, and the city expects to reach 100 by the end of the month. Earlier, Chuncheon held a talk concert at the Bomnae Theater on the 17th, hoping to attract an international skating rink, and recently visited the Hongcheon River Pongkong Festival and the Hwacheon Mountain Fish Festival for guerrilla promotion.

Chuncheon is bidding for the venue because Seoul’s Taereung International Speed Skating Rink has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is facing demolition, so the city has decided on the area around Gangwon Sports High School in Songam-dong as the planned site.
