The casino expansion beyond Atlantic City has been widely popularized by supporters of the idea as an opportunity for the state to keep much-needed gambling revenue within its borders. Opponents, on the other hand, promoted the proposal as more likely to attract casino customers from Atlantic City.

New Jersey residents will have the opportunity to vote on Nov. 8 on voting questions related to the constitutional amendment, which calls for the establishment of two new casinos in the north. Although the idea gained some momentum at first, it now seems that the majority of voters will vote against it.

Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Public Mind today posted its latest poll on the issue. The research center found that 70% or the majority of New Jersey residents would vote against the upcoming Nov. 8 vote. According to the poll, only 24 percent of all residents interviewed supported the proposal.

The casino expansion appears to be strongly opposed by even those who have visited gambling houses in the past few months. Sixty-four percent of them said they would not support the effort.

Asked why they didn’t vote positively, 36% of the state residents interviewed said they thought New Jersey had enough casinos. One more particularly popular answer stroke – 26% of poll participants noted that gambling houses have already done enough damage to Atlantic City. Casino expansion efforts have been widely promoted over the past few months. According to Public Mind at Fairleigh Dickinson University, half of the polled voters were paying attention to the news related to the upcoming vote and said they would make an informed choice.

If the proposal somehow wins a majority among voters, it will allow the construction of two casinos in an unspecified location in North Jersey. What is important here is that the proposed amendment to the Constitution contains provisions that allow you to apply for a license for the operation of the North Jersey Casino. If such operators do not express interest in running new gambling houses, outside casino companies will be allowed to enter the domestic market.

Many people believe that the clause in question prevented sponsors from popularizing the idea in a better way. Without it, major casino operators such as Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts would have put money into promoting the idea, according to industry experts.
