Spain: Online Gambling Revenue Up To 315.3 Million Euros In Q4

Game gross sales in the fourth quarter were up 0.6% from the same period in 2022. Total sales were up 3.6% from sales generated in Spain in the third quarter.

Total revenue from the segment was 171.3 million euros, representing 54.3% of Spain’s total market revenue. A 25.9% increase in slot revenue and a 15.3% increase in live roulette revenue helped the casino market grow.

Elsewhere, sports betting revenue stood at 114.7 million euros, 36.4% of total revenue and 25.4 million euros, or 8.1% of poker revenue. For poker, the tournament had a negative change of 0.5% and Poker Cash had 7.0%.

Bingo activity, which accounts for about 1.2% of gross revenue, and an additional €3.8 million in revenue from the 50,000-euro contest.

Total deposits increased 9.4% in Q4
In terms of player spending, consumers deposited a total of 1.04 billion euros into online gambling accounts in the fourth quarter, up 9.4% from the same period in 2022.

The monthly average for active game accounts was 1,269,585, up 6.8% year-over-year. However, the monthly average for new game accounts was 129,207, down 2.3%.

Looking at business marketing activities, total spending in the fourth quarter was €113.0 million, an increase of 5.3% compared to 2022. Of this, €53.0 million was spent on promotion, €45.2 million on advertising, €14.0 million on partnerships and €75,000 on sponsorship.

By the end of the fourth quarter, about 78 licensed operators had been active in Spain. These include 49 casino games, 43 sports bets, nine poker, three bingo and two contests.
